The Tucson will be my first new car so I’m trying something new and we’ll see how it goes! I appreciate all your help everyone!! I’m so excited to get the new car tomorrow. The few small stains I had came out easy and I can’t believe the fabric still feels fine after 16 years. Mungo544, I’m trading in a 2006 civic and thought the same thing about the fabric quality. Realistically we don’t have too many hot days here. Tampa8, I’m so happy to hear they aren’t too hot in Florida! I should be fine up north then. I have read some reviews of the h Tex since and some people find it easy to clean and less stainable than cloth, so maybe there are pluses and minuses to both. We always have a cover on the back seat of our cars for the dog, but front seat covers might be a good idea. Teebrrron, I will research covers- that’s a good idea.

I mentioned my concerns to the dealer who of course assured me they have not heard of any issues with the seats (we’ll see!) and I will be on a lease so I’m going to carefully watch the material and keep see how it’s holding up by the end of the lease before buying. Thanks all for your advice! I was on the fence still but after spending a week looking at local availability for a cloth alternative, and realizing that this car was the best deal I could find, I went with the SEL with gray h tex. Is this H Tex stuff the same? Or is it more durable? How has it held up to your pets, kids, etc? I am thinking of older cheap 'pleather' materials where the top layer scratches off and it is not repairable. We'll get covers, but realistically this is still a possibility. I have a 100lb dog, though, and I am worried he might scratch the material. I am a little bit messy so the lighter gray color scares me, but it seems like liquids would wipe up fairly easy, if it is water resistant. I am more concerned about how the material holds up to scratches or stains. I am a little concerned that the seats will be hot/sticky in the summer, but I live in New England so our weather tends to be on the cooler side. My question for you all is: do you have the H-Tex seats, and how are they holding up? I saw that it also comes in black so I have asked my dealer if they have any of those coming in any time soon. When I got home and researched, I learned that it is 'H-Tex' material on the seats. I test drove the car at night and thought it was real leather at the time. In person, I might have described the interior as a gray/tan. The exterior is portofino gray and the interior is listed as 'gray/gray'. I have an opportunity to lease a Tucson SEL with 'convenience' package.
